How hard is it to pee on a stick?

Spoiler alert: Don't read any further if you have not watched episode 16, Season 2 of Last Man on Earth.
I almost missed the big announcement on The Last Man on Earth (@LastManFox) having been lulled by Tandy (Will Forte, @OrvilleIV) and Mike (Jason Sudeikis) singing Falling Slowly and by being distracted by this:
But luckily I was able to break my stare just in time to hear that Carol (Kristen Schaal, @kristenschalled) had mistaken a pregnancy test for an ovulation test and she wasn’t ovulating but was pregnant!! Huge cause for celebration. But what is the difference between the two tests?
An ovulation test checks for the presence of luteinizing hormone or LH. LH goes up or surges right before ovulation.
A pregnancy test detects the presence of human chorionic gonadotropin or HCG. This hormone is only made when a woman is pregnant.
Technically an ovulation kit can detect pregnancy because LH and HCG are both glycoproteins and have similar structures and ovulation kits can’t distinguish between the two.
